We are seeking an experienced Privacy Lawyer to join our dynamic team, the Data Protection and Privacy Officer (DDPO) will be instrumental in shaping and ensuring compliance with UK data protection laws. Key responsibilities include providing legal guidance, conducting monitoring reviews, and managing large customer data sets.
Key Responsibilities of the Data Protection & Privacy Lawyer include
- Provide specialized legal guidance for implementing policies aligned with UK data protection laws.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of data protection legislation and regulatory regimes.
- Support compliance for data protection, especially in B2C marketing activities.
- Apply Privacy by Design principles, conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments, and assess data breaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement legal requirements.
- Review and provide guidance on compliance-related policies and procedures.
- Facilitate Data Sharing Agreements and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with Risk & Compliance for comprehensive business support.
- Manage compliance-related issues, conduct internal reviews, and prepare compliance reports.
- Advise operational teams on data protection obligations.
- Monitor compliance with UK-GDPR and other data protection laws.
- Ensure proper registration under the law and maintain an active article 30 register.
- Oversee subject access requests and evaluate data processing activities.
- Manage data privacy breaches and work with the business to embed compliance into transformation programs.
The successful Data Protection & Privacy Lawyer will have:
- Telecoms background
- Proven experience in data protection, preferably with an ISEB/CIPPE qualification.
- Experience in a B2C environment, with a focus on compliance support and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of UK data protection legislation.
- Expertise in Privacy by Design, Data Privacy Impact Assessments, and managing data breaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to ambiguity, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
