Data Product Owner
Type: Contract
Duration: 6/12 months
Rate: 550- 650 per day in scope of IR35
The Data Product Owner will be responsible for the successful delivery of a newly-defined our clients data product/solution. Working with business stakeholders to formalise the business vision for the data product, they will represent the business interest, providing direction and priority to the delivery team(s) to maximise the value of the product offering. In doing so, they will deploy expert knowledge of our clients data and regulatory processes to identify and develop a data product capable of producing high quality outputs that support the our clients regulatory activities and strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders across the organisation to define the vision for a newly-defined our clients data product, and communicating that vision to the wider programme.
- Developing a roadmap to meet the agreed vision for the data product, including defining the user experience, functional requirements and features, and providing strategic insight to support the development team's delivery of the vision.
- Working with the development team to create and manage the product backlog, gathering and prioritising requirements and ensuring that the product meets the needs of the users and our clients.
- Ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the data product, with risks that may cause the data product to fail being identified and managed.
In this role, the postholder will:
- Support the Data Transformation Delivery Manager to translate the programme's objectives into well-defined requirements of our clients new data product and effective operational data systems.
- Work closely with the subject matter experts and stakeholders across the organisation to define the strategic approach to the organisation's new data product.
- Quickly develop a comprehensive and sophisticated technical knowledge, and maintain an in-depth understanding of data processes required to deliver our clients regulatory objectives.
- Ensure that pragmatic effective decisions are made that ensure activities remain relevant to their wider context.
- Operate effective activity management to deliver assigned outputs and milestones, and activity or line management within the wider DTP team as required, including to help build the capacity and effectiveness of the team.
- Ensure that the data product is developed efficiently, through a focus on owning and solving problems to drive optimal functionality and service availability, and supporting the project manager to ensure that resources allocated to DTP are used effectively.

Operational management. Manages the operational process of designing and running a product or service throughout its entire product life cycle. Implements best practice in new product or service development. Plans and puts into operation the stages of new product or service development. Overcomes operational constraints to deliver a successful product or service. Works closely with other operational delivery teams.
Problem management. Can understand and identify problems, analysing and helping to identify the appropriate solution. Can classify and prioritise problems, document their causes and implement remedies.
Product ownership. Can use a range of product management principles and approaches. Can capture user needs and translate them into deliverables. Can define the minimum viable product (MVP) and make decisions about priorities. Can write user stories and acceptance criteria. Works effectively with a range of specialists in multidisciplinary teams.
Strategic ownership Can effectively focus on outcomes rather than solutions. Can develop ambitious visions and strategies. Can get the organisation and team to buy in. Translates the vision into prioritised deliverable goals.
