p>Our client is a market leader in the world of Cyber Disputes. The team advises their corporate and insurer clients on managing the consequences of domestic and international cyber and data breaches. They manage the full lifecycle of matters, and their practice and the work they undertake is truly global in nature. Due to continued growth of the practice, the team is now looking to hire an additional Cyber Disputes Lawyer on a 6-12 month Fixed Term Contract. Given the trajectory of the team, there is genuine potential for further extension or permanency.

Whilst the role would be ideally suited for a Senior Associate with upwards of 5 years PQE, given the growth plans of the team, they would not rule out strong candidates with upwards of 3 years PQE.

The team works on matters which are high-stake, high-value, fast-moving and dynamic. Matters often involve working with international clients, law enforcement and government bodies, leading cyber market experts, well-known threat groups and utilising cutting-edge technologies. The team has recently been involved in responding to multi-million-pound ransomware events for retailers, global breaches for household name technology companies, cross-border incidents for financial services companies, and handling group litigation defence work following breaches for a number of clients.

The successful cyber disputes lawyer can expect to be involved in:

• Working closely with market leading Partners in advising clients on a variety of cyber risk and disputes involving the readiness, respond and recover phases.
• Cross-jurisdictional cyber incidents and dealing with data protection regulators, coordinating EU-wide regulatory investigations.
• Managing cyber security incidents and data breaches involving instructing IT forensics firms, liaising with PR consultants, dealing with attackers, advising on notification obligations, managing regulatory investigations and liaising with criminal authorities.
• Advising on the application of GDPR to international breaches.
• Advising on post-notification requests, complaints and claims including class action based litigation.
• Regulatory investigations, including launching enforcement challenges and appeals.
• Supporting and leading on various thought leadership and broader PR initiatives.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

• Qualification in England & Wales (ideally), or another commonwealth jurisdiction with relevant and directly applicable experience gained within the UK.
• Ideally upwards of 5 years PQE, although strong applicants with upwards of 3 years PQE will also be considered.
• Outstanding technical legal skills, and the ability to manage and prioritise and busy and varied caseload.
• A strong commercial litigation background, ideally with a focus on cyber breaches, technology or media disputes.
• Prior cyber disputes experience, with a focus on breach response work.
• A passion and real interest in technology and data issues.
• The ability to handle a caseload with little supervision.
• The ability to take the initiative on all aspects of cyber work.

The team operates a hybrid working policy, with 2 days a week in the office. Whilst it would be ideal for the successful candidate to be based in the firm s London office, they would consider candidates looking to be based out of either their Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Surrey or London offices.
