Job Title: Credit File Review Consultant

Job Type: Day Rate Contract (Inside of IR35)

Location: London


Main Responsibilities

Review of Processes, Policies and Accounting Review (PP&A)

  • Analyze bank processes, policies, and accounting practices.
  • Evaluate the impact of these practices on the carrying values of assets in banks' balance sheets.
  • Assess accounting classifications, including amortized cost, fair value through profit and loss, and fair value through other comprehensive income.
  • Review provisioning approaches and impairment staging criteria.
  • Examine the treatment of non-performing exposures (NPEs) and forbearance.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements and compliance enhancements.


Credit File Reviews

  • Conduct credit analysis with a focus on distressed, stressed, and performing credits.
  • Verify the correct classification of credit exposures in the bank's systems.
  • Ensure accuracy in regulatory segment categorization, NPE status, and impairment staging classification.
  • Assess adequacy and appropriateness of provisions for credit exposures.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of loans, advances, financial leases, and off-balance-sheet items.
  • Include specialized asset finance such as shipping and project finance in the review.


Fair Value Exposure Reviews

  • For banks with material level 2/3 fair value exposures, perform a thorough review.
  • Modules of review may include:
  • Evaluation of core trading book processes (e.g., IPV, product approval).
  • Assessment of valuation risks.
  • Analysis of credit value adjustment (CVA) challenger models.
  • Revaluation of significant exposures.
  • Quantitative review of important derivative pricing models.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in banking, risk management, or financial consulting.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes, accounting principles, and risk management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to banking operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) will be a plus.
