p>Service Care Legal are currently working with a local authority, based in South Wales, which is in need of a technically competent Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity as the local authority is transitioning from having an Accountable Body to holding assets and contracts in its own name.

The successful candidate will be part of a small but highly performing in-house legal team, reporting directly to the Monitoring Officer. They will be responsible for actively managing the contract forward plan and working closely with instructing officers and procurement colleagues.

ROLE: Contracts and Procurement Lawyer

LOCATION: South Wales - hybrid/remote working

RATE: 45- 55ph

CONTRACT LENGTH: 3 months ongoing

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on contracts and procurement matters
  • Handle your own contracts and procurement caseload from start to completion
  • Work closely with instructing officers and procurement colleagues
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations

Requirements

  • A qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Legal Executive with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in contracts and procurement law
  • Experience of working in a Welsh local authority or combined authority would be helpful but is not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
