About the Role

We are seeking bright and ambitious talent to help us achieve our ambitions in the Community Team. We have an exciting family leave cover opportunity which will play a pivotal role in delivering our community plans across the Society.

If you enjoy a varied day, then this may be the job for you. There is a lot of variety in this busy role where no two days are the same and there can be everchanging priorities.

As a Community Assistant you ll support with colleague volunteering, encouraging colleagues to find suitable opportunities, providing guidance with logging and monitoring volunteering.

You'll get to provide an overview of Community at our Head office inductions for our new starters.

You will provide advice on fundraising activities to our stakeholders.

You ll get to travel and visit our branches, meet our charity members and attend charity events all the while supporting our community initiatives.

You will have responsibility for a number of different administrative tasks, including managing spreadsheets and data to provide information for reporting purposes.

You ll be involved in coordinating and scheduling regular meetings with our internal stakeholders such as the Community Ambassdor network and at times you will prepare and deliver presentations.

You will get the chance to meet external stakeholders where you will develop relationships and create content for stories linked to our community activity.

You will support the community grant donation programme with all elements of the process, logging member nominations, arranging panel meetings and organising visits to charities.

You will have exposure to the responsibilities of wider teams by supporting projects and tasks in the department.

About You

An ability to communicate effectively with others via a range of methods along with first class attention to detail is a must.

You ll be able to demonstrate good understanding and usage of a personal computing device with good IT skills.

You ll be confident in providing briefings and formal updates to internal / external stakeholders.

As a Community Assistant you ll travel and work from different locations. You will feel comfortable with the responsibility for ordering and organising community merchandise, processing invoices and logging spend as well as answering community related queries via all channels.

You ll be comfortable working on your own, unsupervised, using your own initiative in developing community activities to provide maximum strategic impact.

The Community Team sits within Group Communications which is part of the wider Brand & Marketing Department. It is a small team but positioned in a way to keep abreast of everything happening across the Society. The Community Team is responsible for delivering on community ambitions including colleague volunteering, fundraising, grant giving and supporting strategic relationships that help us to deliver on our purpose of connecting communities to a better financial future.
