About the role
Astute's Power Division are partnering with a leading EPC Contractor in the UK Power Industry. We are currently recruiting for a 2x Civil Engineering Supervisor to join their team on the new build Waste to Energy facility based in Chester for initially 12 months.
Key responsibilities for the Civil Engineering Supervisor positions:
- Directly reports to the Site Civil Manager.
- Liaise with Engineering, review drawings and method statements and make sure the civil works are performed according to the IFC drawings.
- Day to day communication with the civil works subcontractors' representatives at site level and formal communication to the extend delegated by the Civil Manager
- Participates in daily site meetings with the subcontractors under the coordination of the Civil manager.
- Coordinate the civil activities appointed to them.
- Ensure that the civil works appointed to them are carried out correctly and as efficiently as possible.
- Checks, controls and inspects the subcontractor, its progress and performance at site in daily basis.
- Keep a daily diary of subcontractor activities on site, maintain accurate records of civil work activities, follow up the progress of civil erection works vs the time schedule and project milestones and report to the Civil Manager.
- Reviews the monthly certification works of the Civil Works subcontractors.
- Coordinate with the temporary works coordinator and temporary works supervisor to ensure safe and sufficient scaffolding and other access means are available to erection subcontractors when required.
- Responsible for manning levels and the day to day running of the civil works appointed to them.
- Checks the installed quantities and informs the Civil Manager when there is lack of material.
- Follow up of punch lists, NCRs and list of open items and report to the Civil Manager.
- Review that all deviations, defects and non-conformities identified are rectified by the subcontractor and report to the Civil manager prior to approving completions of specific electrical works.
- Liaise with the Quality Engineer in the drafting of the punch/snag list of the subcontractor and report to the Civil Manager.
- Review adherence of the Subcontractors' and their works to the Project HSE requirements and CPP as well as to the observations raised by the HSE team and report to the Electrical Manager.
- Ensure that subcontractors maintain proper housekeeping of working areas, and that subcontractor at the end of each shift collect all tools and keep working areas clean and safe.
- Participate in Pre-Start Meeting with the applicable subcontractor and communicate HSE information, requirements and all necessary HSE information to the subcontractor before they start work.
- Review that subcontractor follows the maximum worker to supervisor ratio of 12 workers to 1 supervisor and report to the Construction Manager.
- Request from each subcontractor to provide RAMS for their activities at least 14 days in advance of starting work, review & comment method statements and risk assessments and carry out ongoing monitoring to review the actual health and safety standards are maintained by the subcontractor in accordance with the RAMS, the CPP requirements and the relevant observations and instructions issued by the HSE Site management team.
- Promote a strong safety culture with civil works' subcontractors.
Skills and qualifications:
- Civil and structural engineering supervisory experience.
- 5 years construction site experience.
- HNC or above in a relevant subject.
- Working knowledge of construction management.
