Location: Hybrid with occasional office visits in Durham (approx. 3x a month or less)
Contract Type: 6 months contract
IR35 Status: Inside, Umbrella
Day rate: 200/day
Hours of work:
37 hours per week, 5 days

As part of the Central Technical Organization (CTO), the EDF Renewables Engineering Team plays a crucial role in this journey, providing governance and support for all assets across their lifecycle, from origination to decommissioning.


Role Overview


As a Buyer you will be supporting procurement activities for the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) of operating assets. This includes obtaining spares, consumables, equipment, and third-party services. The role also extends to procurement activities related to the overall management of operational assets. Specific tasks involve preparing purchase orders, coordinating supplier payments, and collaborating with the Asset Operations directorate to ensure compliance with approved company procedures and best value practices.


Key Responsibilities



  • One of the main challenges the role faces is to ensure that relationships are formed with regional representatives and they achieve the best value when purchasing goods and services although decisions are guided by catalogues / procedures / processes.

  • Support procurement activities (relating to 'goods' and 'off-site' 3rd party services) required for existing operational assets to agreed commercial objectives and in line with approved procedures

  • Provide the prompt and accurate purchase of all required goods, materials, consumables, spare parts and equipment via the IFS system to meet operational needs and plans, track and expedite incoming orders.

  • Manage the invoice payment activities (using Medius) ensuring payments are made in a timely manner.

  • Ensure suppliers align with EDF R expectations on quality and purchase orders reflect this expectation.


Qualifications and Experience



  • Previous experience as Buyer/Purchasing Assistant or similar roles essential.

  • IFS knowledge and experience is preferred.

  • Experience of working in an operational environment, ideally with an engineering or industrial sector background.

  • Knowledge of inventory and cost management principles.

  • Negotiation and influencing skills
