Business Continuity Consultant required for market-leading financial services firm. The role will be focused on supporting the head of Operational Resilience and BC management.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- At all times adhere to the Conduct Rules as set out in the Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR).
- Support Service Owners and their teams in a full review of the annual review cycle of IBS. Manage the identification and ongoing reassessment of Important Business Services (IBS). This includes maturing the assessment methodology, reviewing the thresholds for impact tolerances and materiality ratings, and conducting desktop and 'live' tests.
- Lead the updates required to Operational Resilience IBS artefacts and any business artefacts, to reflect the outcome of e.g., business process maps, Impact tolerances, scenario testing plans, incident management processes, crisis communications etc.
- Provide input to the self-assessment report, including coordination of stakeholder validation and sign-off prior to review and approval to ORC and Board.
- Ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to update people, end-to-end processes, technology, facilities, data and information that support important business services.
- Ensure ongoing coordination and mapping between Important Business Services and other compliance obligations as well as their representation in service taxonomies, Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and liquidity scenarios (ICARA).
- Scenario tests: develop and facilitate the involvement and expectations for specific scenario testing of IBS, review the adequacy and effectiveness of controls supporting the delivery of the IBS .
- Support the production of IBS Service Recovery Plans and Service Resilience Dashboards to establish and report the resilience posture of all IBS.
- Vulnerabilities: Identify and assess vulnerabilities removed and/or created through the scenario exercising and agree the recourse required and secure timelines, investment, and resources. Map into overall vulnerability plan and tracker.
- Support the development and implementation of Operational Resilience Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting and identify and escalate any issues to ORC.
- Promote awareness and understanding of Operational Resilience across the firm through training and internal communication.
- Business Continuity Management, support the production of standalone BCPs and the embedding of the BCM Framework and operating standards, ensuring all people involved in BCM and related Incident Management processes are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities:
- Assure that in the event of an incident, business processes can be recovered within the Process Maximum Disruption Time (MDT)
- Ensure that the BC Plan is appropriately exercised, and any recovery site agreements are robust and maintained.
- Oversight of Incident Management - Confirm requirements and practical steps in respect of incident management (either inbound or outbound) including escalations, communications and key workarounds Report any incidents and/or impact tolerance breaches to Operational Resilience Committee:
- Coordination and communications
- Develop High-level Departmental Response Plans
- Develop or update the crisis communications runbook.
- Conduct post-event reviews of incidents and project lessons learnt to identify improvement opportunities, working with relevant teams to enhance knowledge, tools, and practices proactively.
- Support DORA compliance with forthcoming regulations by coordinating the activities required and providing subject matter expertise and industry insights to shape regulatory interpretation and project delivery.
As an ideal candidate, you will have an industry certification such as CBCP, ISO22301 CBCM OR CBRM and have expert knowledge of Operational Resilience, Incident Management and Business Continuity. You will also have a proven track record of delivery in a similar role. Financial services experience required.
Please Note: This is a day rate contract (Inside IR35). The role is Hybrid working with 2 days a week in the office in the City of London.
