Key Responsibilities


You will:



  • provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of business architecture to effectively support business strategy and determines opportunities for growth.

  • lead the effort to identify and document capability and initiative needs and strategic prioritisation into business architecture deliverables (roadmaps etc).

  • lead, understand and communicate the big picture while working to assure the overall goal is maintained in the development of the artefacts that High-Level Design and its application.

  • be responsible for engagement with programmes and projects, promoting the business architecture and a service design approach to ensure that plans / solutions are aligned to our design, key performance measures and are user centred.

  • define scope whilst shaping and challenging business priorities and value through collaboration.

  • create business architecture models demonstrating how products, operations and systems interoperate within the organisation.

  • work with ONS enterprise architecture, business analysis and service design colleagues to deliver a holistic view across these disciplines, ensuring consistent processes, standards and working practices are adopted.

  • deliver at pace using agile methodologies and principles.

  • assist decision makers in gathering information to make informed decisions.

  • promote a culture of assurance and security.

  • actively participate in the business architecture community and broader communities to refine and develop standards, working practices, sharing of knowledge, and understanding.


Person Specification


You will:



  • contribute to the creation and maintenance of the future operational design and identifies the impact on operational services.

  • proactively lead the completion of architecture definitions across a range of programmes ensuring that projects and development teams abide by its principles and are actively involved.

  • be responsible for investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing and new services.

  • use a wide range of techniques to model situations confidently and with agreement from subject matter experts and stakeholders.

  • have the experience of using reference models, notations, frameworks pertinent to business architecture.

  • lead others to innovate in their work as well as innovating in their own.

  • be proficient in communicating with delivery projects to ensure they have a complete understanding of the business and user needs. Make sure end user perspectives are fully considered.

  • have a working knowledge of organisational and wider government strategic objectives and ensure that solutions are aligned with key priorities. Be alert to changes in strategic direction and assess the impact of change.

  • be able to simplify complex problems and information to enable communication and artefacts developed are accessible and engaging.

  • Expert leadership and engagement skills.

  • Proven transformation programme experience of business architecture.

  • Experience of Business Architecture frameworks; BIZBOK

  • Proven experience of developing and aligning strategies across an organisation.

  • Expert at simplifying complex problems and information.

  • Experience supporting public sector organisations
