Job Description: The Behaviour Support Assistant role in Bournemouth involves supporting primary age pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The School and Role An Alternative Provision school based in Bournemouth are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to start as soon as possible, or in September 2025. The school caters for primary age pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as challenging behaviour. The Behaviour Mentor role is an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and support young people to access education. You will offer guidance and support both in the classroom, and also with their social and emotional development. The successful Support Assistant will be required to work 1-1 with pupils, assisting them academically as well as overcoming barriers to learning and supporting them emotionally. You will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and emotional development of a child with special needs or challenging behaviour. Working closely with the class teacher and special educational needs coordinator (SENCO), you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the individual needs of the student.

Requirements The desired Teaching Assistant will have; Experience of working with primary and/or secondary school aged children Experience of working with pupils with SEND/SEMH and challenging behaviour. A passion for the progress of pupils An ability to work as part of a team
