Position: Assistant Chief Design Engineer

Rate/Salary: 85ph - Inside IR35

The below job description will outline this position of: Assistant Chief Design Engineer 

Typically, this person will be assist the Chief Engineer with their responsibilities in leading the design and verification activities of the Electrical Design Team. Your key interfaces will be the Mechanical and Software Design Teams.

Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Chief Design Engineer:

 

• Assist in the generation of overall product architecture and break down into constituent sub-systems and product systems


• Task and manage the allocated systems design teams including budget and planning requirements


• Managing the Design Iteration and Design Technical Approval process


• Capturing, managing, and maintaining all critical data created within their team, including technical reports, models, design data or validation & verification data


• Support the Product Introduction Lifecycle Management (PILM) process


• Agree and commit tasks with respect to technical requirements and milestones


• Represent the Project/Company to customers, suppliers, and operators as necessary, with the occasional requirement to travel to customer, and supplier sites


• You will have experience in leading an Engineering team, sufficient to enable decision making commensurate with size of package


• Possess excellent knowledge of both AC and DC low voltage electrical power distribution systems, their components, and sub-assemblies


• Demonstrable experience in the design of low voltage distribution systems and equipment; requirements capture, design process (volt drop, fault analysis, protection system coordination, thermal analysis, etc)


• Have excellent communication/influencing skills, being able to clearly and effectively articulate ideas, plans and priorities to engineers of other disciplines


• Lifecycle Management and Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules


• Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules


• Good knowledge of marine and electrical standards and regulations, such as Class Society rules, IEC61439 and Def Stans

Qualifications and requirement for the Assistant Chief Design Engineer:

• Ability to obtain UK SC Clearance is a must 


• Driving Licence 


• Educated to Degree Level


• Chartered Engineer or Working towards
