p>Our client is looking for an Assistant Accountant for a contract position, located in Aberdeen.

ROLE

The purpose of this job is to assist the Commercial & Finance Manager in the delivery of financial management within the Group of companies and other companies supported by the Commercial and Finance team. This role will provide financial support to all companies, leadership and sector teams to ensure robust financial controls are maintained in the delivery of all projects and activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a very varied role working across four companies at different stages of operation and development.

The principal duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Support for the ongoing management of financial processes and controls for companies in the Group and other companies for whom the company provides commercial and financial support, including but not limited to:
  • Income drafting sales invoices and assisting with the preparation of grant claims to funding partners (ensuring completeness of income, full reconciliations to Xero, compliance with funding conditions and any required finance or information & reporting to project partners).
  • Purchases and expenses ensuring the adherence to policies and procedures concerning the commitment of company funds, including delegated authorities, staff expenses, credit cards and bank payments, ensuring costs billed are in compliance with agreed contracts and grant agreements, ensuring the consistency and accuracy of coding in Xero.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and ensuring clearance of outstanding reconciling items on a timely basis, monitoring of bank balances.
  • Preparation of monthly journals and intercompany invoicing.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring reconciling items are resolved timely and issues are appropriately escalated to relevant parties and not left unresolved.
  • Fixed Asset Register reconciliation of the FAR to Xero on a monthly basis.
  • Analysis of the company credit card spend, timely submission and approval and correct recording/accuracy of VAT receipts for re-claiming VAT.
  • Assisting with the monthly and quarterly management accounts.
    • Support to the team in all financial aspects for the multi-tenanted building including raising sales invoices for monthly rent invoices to office tenants, co-workers and hot deskers, raising sales invoices for meeting room and event space bookings including the re-charge of catering costs, reconciliation of front of house credit card sales. This will also include P&L income and cost analysis and monthly reporting on actuals and working with the team to develop re-forecasts.
    • Provide financial support to the various companies, project managers and sector teams to ensure robust financial controls are maintained in the delivery of all activities and projects. This will include the provision of reports on actual project spend, working with project teams to develop re-forecasts and reporting on financial commitments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of Zahara and Xero preferred but not essential as training will be provided
  • Newly qualified, Part qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CA) or qualified by experience
  • Excellent technical, analytical and reporting skills
  • Basic understanding of VAT and tax regulations
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel
