1:1 Home Tutor – SW2

Summary: Classroom Teachers Ltd is seeking a qualified tutor to provide one-on-one support for a Year 11 student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using the TEACCH approach. The role involves delivering core subjects in a home setting for over 15 hours a week, ensuring a stimulating learning environment while engaging with the student and their parents. The position is long-term, starting as soon as possible, and requires travel to SW2. Candidates must have a strong understanding of autism-specific teaching methods and be passionate about supporting students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement autism-informed supports to develop communication skills (including cognitive flexibility)
• Use visual supports to clarify abstract concepts and social communication rules
• Provide 1:1 sessions teaching core subjects
• Write half-termly reports
• Create a stimulating and enjoyable learning environment
• Engage with the student in their home while parents/guardians are present

Key Skills:

• Understanding of TEACCH and autism-specific approaches
• Qualified Teacher status
• Previous experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Passionate, enthusiastic, and caring attitude towards children
• Able to engage students in their own homes
• Effective communication skills with parents/guardians
• Able to inspire young adults
• Willingness to travel to SW2 daily
• Hold an in-date DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
